Rain, Umbrellas, and Motorbikes AKA Another Life Lesson

Ok so yesterday as I was wrapping up my class (at 6:30pm) the sky decided to open up and rain cats and dogs! One of my students offered me a ride home cause I had walked back to campus. I looked at him like he was crazy as he pulled an umbrella out of his bag. My student claimed the umbrella would keep my dry (this is a common misconception here in Thailand). I agreed to the ride since he looked so happy to give me a ride and I was starving (probably the main reason I agreed). Well as we raced through the rain with me holding the umbrella, attempting to keep us kinda dry, I discovered that all you can really shield with the umbrella on a motorbike is your hair. In the 2 minutes it took us to get to my apartment my clothes were soaked (especially my pants and shoes).

So the lesson is if it's raining in Thailand you'll get less wet if you walk home!
